The writing market is saturated.
You will find that most people that claim the “writer” title believe they must do so for a variety of reasons. Some may say they write because they love it, others may say they write because they want to change the world. I claim the title of writer because it is a trade that I know and understand. It is my craft. Like someone building a house, someone mending steel, or any similar trade, I work with my hands.
Writing is not something that places me above any other person. It is not that which separates me from my fellow person. It is actually the opposite. I write to represent myself as well as any and all persons who are not quite able to do so themselves. I do not do this because I think myself any more capable of capturing a feeling. I do this because through this I can contribute to the society around me.
In saying this, I must also believe that I stand outside of the formal writer’s circle. I separate myself from the common writer because I do not write for personal gain; that is happenstance. I write because I can, because I am compelled to do so. I am a writer and only as such do I consider myself the best.
Through this medium I have not commonly placed emphasis on my name because the reader is as much an owner of my work as I am. Writing is something that connects all people and I write to ensure survival of not only myself but of the immense depth of humanity.
